The Library Lady Blog

Hi there, I'm the Library Lady, or Andi to most people. This blog tries to focus on aspects of self-care, complete with books, hot baths, and being outdoors or exploring around.

One of my favorite things to do is to go for a walk in a local park. Not only are you showing appreciation for the city’s hard work, but it’s free to do and you can enjoy a wide range of activities. Sometimes, a day in the sunshine is all you need.

There is a lot of parks around where I live, and ever since I moved to Idaho, my husband and I have made it a habit to visit them when we can. It’s a free way to spend a sunny afternoon, and right now during quarantine, some vitamin D and fresh air will do us some good! (Just please remember social distancing!)

I thought I would share some great pictures I got from our outing. These parks are located in Nampa, Idaho if anyone is curious.

First up we have a little park called Wilson Creek Park that is actually nestled in a subdivision of all places. It is a popular place for the neighboring ducks to live, and if you are quiet enough, you’ll catch some sights of eggs or a few hatchlings. So cute!

By the way, did you know that ducks have a “mate” that they usually stick around with for the season? I never knew that. Geese and swans will often find a mate and for a long-time bond with, but ducks will usually just stick with their mate for the season, aka mating and hatching of the eggs. Random duck fact for you!

It also has a great walking trail along the creek, where a lot of birds make their homes. It was a gorgeous day to get outside.

Next up is Lakeview Park, and it is about 5 minutes up the road from this one. This is definitely more popular with Nampa’s residents, and it is easy to see why. It has several wide and open areas to play, plenty of shady trees, a couple great playgrounds, a rose garden, and a community pool to splash around in.

It also has a beautiful creek that flows through the middle of it, which is a safe haven for the local ducks.

Baby ducks!! Need I say more? I won’t lie to you, I had a “girl moment” and squealed when I saw them.

Funny fact: I have never seen the flowers in bloom, somehow I always miss them. But I have seen other people’s pictures, and they are beautiful!

Hubby took this picture of me. I love these trees, they smell so sweet.

If you haven’t already, I would very much recommend to visit one of your local parks and get some fresh air soon. Spring is here and here in Idaho, it can be very topsy turvy sometimes, but normally we have some gorgeous days to look forward to. I can’t wait for later in the season when we can go out more. I’ll make sure to take a lot more pictures!!
